A Postdoctoral position in Microbial Pathogenesis is available to
investigate iron acquisition systems of Francisella tularensis, a
Category A biological agent. This study is part of a NIH Program
Project entitled "Molecular Biology of Francisella tularensis
Virulence." Emphasis will be placed on the identification and
characterization of F. tularensis gene products that are essential for
obtaining iron from the host environment. Experience with recombinant
DNA techniques is required; this project will use DNA microarray and
mutant analyses in conjunction with a relevant animal model. Position
includes salary, fringe benefits, and the opportunity to acquire
training in rigorous BSL-3 containment practices. Position available
