-------------------- Post-doctoral position as posted on Postdoc Jobs website: http://www.PostdocJobs.com -------------------- The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Southern Regional Research Center, New Orleans, LA, is seeking a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, (Research Molecular Biologist). Ph.D. is required. Salary is commensurate with experience ($46,469 - $72,746 per annum), plus benefits. There are some citizenship restrictions. USDA is currently unable to sponsor H-1B or TN visas. The incumbent will utilize DNA probe technology to measure the expression of fungal and host plant (corn) genes governing aflatoxin contamination during the plant-fungus interaction. Probes are derived from genes associated with a previously identified aflatoxin pathway gene cluster housing 16 to 20 genes, and from resistance-associated genes identified in kernels of resistant corn inbreds. Research progress with specific identified DNA probes ultimately will lead to the use of microarray technology for global characterization of genes governing the Aspergillus flavus-corn interaction as targets for selective breeding to reduce aflatoxin contamination.
