Postdoctoral position in molecular pharmacology and/or biochemistry.

NIH funded research on the characterization of peptides that target
nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. Due to their exquisite selectivity
conotoxins are used as templates for creating new molecular probes .
These peptides are then used to study neurotranmitter release in the
CNS. The research is cross-disciplinary in nature, involving
neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology, electrophysiology and
molecular biology. The work also involves opportunity for interaction
with scientists from Cognetix, a start-up biotech company that is
developing conotoxins as novel medicines. The University of Utah is
set in the foothills of beautiful Salt Lake City, site of the 2002
Winter Olympics.
