I agree that there will always be some violence, and that neither violence nor agression are necessarily bad, but both should be kept under control. For example, suppose you send your kid to school and you find that the school has a bullying problem. You should certainly demand that the school do something about it, but you should also teach your kid how to recognise and deal with bullying. There are bullies everywhere, not just physical bullies but also emotional and intellectual ones. We will never entirely get rid of them. Once again drugs may be a useful part of therapy but are not a cure. If you were to have an operation, you would be given pain-killers to deal with the post-operative pain while your body healed itself. But if you simply gave pain-killers to someone with a burst appendix they would die. It's no good learning to cope if coping simply keeps you in the same unacceptable situation until it reaches a point where you cannot cope any longer. The sig is a howler, as such it's not strictly true. Socrates was killed because he rocked the political boat not because he gave advice. I have a great respect for Socrates, but I like to keep that sig to remind me not to give unsolicited advice too freely. Regards, Jonathan Depree Jonathan Depree, Lincoln University, P.O.
