NIH funded research in molecular pharmacology. Due to their exquisite
selectivity and novel mechanisms of action, conotoxins are used as
molecular probes for nervous system study and as leads for novel
medicines. The research is cross-disciplinary in nature, involving
molecular biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology, and
electrophysiology. The work also involves opportunity for interaction
with scientists from Cognetix, a start-up biotech company that is
developing conotoxins as novel medicines. Applicants should send C.V.
with a list of at least three references.
