OK, maybe not the majority, but there must be one or two billion people in the Third World that have no access to any of the items you listed. And that's a large share of the human population. As to the invention you and I are using to conduct our argument, the computer, I don't believe that much more than three or four percent of humans have ever used one. The point I was trying to make was by no means against science and technology. I intended to show how disproportionately its fruits are divided up, which must be a cause for some concern. With respect to the second half of my argument, the one on contribution, I don't believe any argument can be made against it. Right now, research and devlopment of technology involves very few people, and surely if a greater number were to make contributions, the pace of progress would increase accordingly. -- -> "I am a seeker of truth, though I do not know what truth is. -> I suspect there are many truths, and therefore do not trust -> anyone who claims his is the only one." -> Louis L'Amour -> -> "I come from downtown, -> Born ready for you, -> Armed with will and determination, -> And grace, too" -> The Tragically Hip -> -> Dmitry Nekrasovski -> -> sdecont2@bnr.ca
