We : fucked Earth up royally, so why should we go traipsing around fucking up : the rest of the universe? You seem to view resources as being finite Nice language. Resources are finite. If they are used , they are lost. Some are recyclable, and some are renewable. But all, even our precious Sun, are finite. : under any circumstances. If you think about though, witha little more : judicious use of our resources, and clever recycling of what we did use, : there really was no need for these resources to run out for thousands : more years. When you consider that so many nations use so much less : energy and resources per capita than North America, and you consider the : many areas where we have the potential to reduce our consuption and : recover large portions of what we do consume, it strikes me as a rather : irresponsible and gutless response to abandon our planet in favour of : pillaging another. Ah, the post-modern critique. Good. But it offers no viable alternatives. Interesting the hostility that you are now introducing. There is nothing "gutless" about exploring the unknown. Indeed, aside from soldiers actions in battle, there may be no higher degree of courage. However, that aside, you would limit us to the confines of our beautiful but oh so small and insignificant planet. Obviously, we have been given the ability to travel into space. It is rudimentary now, but our abilities will improve I am certain. Not to use an opportunity to learn and expand is to act of a fool. Perhaps we are, at present, irresponsible. The only way that will go away is by expanding our knowledge and experience, not by limiting it. And you never offered a response as to exactly why you thought my critique of your suggestions was incorrect. But, I would recommend that, should you wish to pursue useful dialogue as opposed to a simple flame-war, that you tone down a tad on the language and belligerance. : -- : Stu, King of CSCSS : umcroall@cc.umanitoba.ca : "Sara dear, our carriage awaits!"
