Your rant, while interesting (and I did read it all), > doesn't seem to have much to do with alternative genealogy, Australian > transvestites, soccer or recreational food cooking. This was sci.space.policy. I was addressing my remarks to this group. I was unaware that there was cross posting. I will continue to discuss largely space issues. I think at this point I should perhaps talk a little bit about Stephen Hawking and our place in the Universe (long term). Hawking is an atheist although he does show an astonishing degree of faith. Many people viewing what is known as the Fermi Paradox say that the reason there are no extraterrestrials is because they all destroy themselves and by implication we will too. Hawking has a vision of the human race in space, perhaps becoming what is known as type 3 and playing a significant part in the life of the Universe, including perhaps the ability to create other universes. Is this the right vision? Clearly we will need to improve our technology in a great many areas, not just in terms of space transportation. Question :- Is sci.space.policy the place to discuss this vision? Hell no! It ought to be though, my comments that it a group of right wing backbiters. Most of its members are idiots. You see what they want is Socialism. They want a state that is prepared to spend more and more money on manned expeditions to Mars. They want a right wing military policy but an economic policy of state control. They are only Tea Party up to a point. You see a true Tea Party believer, at least in theory, should be prepared to raise the money to take them to Mars themselves. - Ian Parker
