How to read Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese in IE4,5 or NC4.x? Answer: The best way would be to download Free Chinese fonts using MS Internet Explorer, follow this instruction: (Your Netscape can use these fonts too, instruction in the middle of this post) Go to: http://microsoft.com/msdownload/iebuild/ie4sp2_win32/en/ie4sp2_win32.htm Choose "other" and click "next" button. Then Choose the type of Chinese font that you want, click Yes if a message prompt appears. When it ask you to download IE4, just ignore it. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX If you don't want to use IE, follow instruction below: If you prefer to view Traditional writing form only, download ie3lpktw.exe (4048k) (or search for this file using any search machine) from this link: ftp://ccic.ifcss.org/pub/software/ms-win/www/ie3lpktw.exe Run it, the program will install the font into your Windows. After that, go to the menu bar in Netscape and choose "Edit" then --> Preferences --> Appearance --> Fonts, in "For the Encoding" field, choose "Traditional Chinese", then choose "MingLiu" as your font to view Chinese. If you want to view both Simplified and Traditional Chinese writing, download ie3lpkcn.exe (2828k) (or search for this file using any search machine) from this link: ftp://ccic.ifcss.org/pub/software/ms-win/www/ie3lpkcn.exe Run it, the program will install the font into your Windows. After that, go to the menu bar in Netscape and choose "Edit" then --> Preferences --> Appearance --> Fonts, in "For the Encoding" field, choose "Simplified Chinese", then choose "MS Song" as your font to view Chinese. Then you will see Chinese writing whenever you receive a Chinese coded letters or when you see a Chinese coded post on the newsgroups, or view Chinese web pages, even though you don't have a Chinese system install in your computer. (When you are using Netscape related software) No more squares. For those who use IE as your browser, and has download Internet Explorer Chinese font, but unwilling to install IE Chinese input system because you already have a Chinese system, you can use the method that type above, and would be able to type in Chinese writing and have correct output for Chinese you type in. (In Netscape and Netscape related software of course) If you think my instruction is not good enough, read this: I get it from http://x36.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=536765297.7&CONTEXT=939942121.407240719&hitnum=0 or http://chinese.yahoo.com/docs/info/setup.html Traditional Chinese 1. Download and install font pack for IE from Microsoft <ftp://msdownload.hk.super.net/local/ie3lpktw.exe> or Windows Update: Traditional Chinese language support... <http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/iebuild/ime5_win32/en/ime5_win32.htm> 2. Select Netscape 4.x menu: Edit -> Preference: Appearance -> Fonts -> Traditional Chinese ?@ Select "MingLiu" 3. Close and (restart) Netscape 4.5 Settings for viewing Simplified Chinese and Japanese are similar: Simplified Chinese 1. <ftp://msdownload.hk.super.net/local/ie3lpkcn.exe> or Windows Update: Simplified Chinese language support 2. Select Netscape 4.x menu: Edit -> Preference: Appearance -> Fonts -> Simplified Chinese: Select "MS Song"
