In Their Memory, CHALLENGER 1/28/86 Francis R Scobee Michael J Smith Elison S Onizuka Judith A Resnick Ronald E McNair Gregory Jarvis Christa McAuliff "Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds -- and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of -- wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace, Where never lark, or even eagle, flew; And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high, untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God." ================================================================= David L. I have found that one of the best tributes I've seen/heard is the piece of music that Ron McNair was working on with Jean-Michel Jarre. Ron was a saxophonist, and had worked on a piece of music that he would play in orbit while it was recorded on the ground. After the disaster, Jarre reworked the piece as "Ron's Theme" and included it on his album "Rendezvous" that was subsequently performed in that huge gig in Houston's downtown. I always get a lump in my throat when I listen to that piece of music. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul A.
