Dear Linda,
I doubt that you can claim to be tolerant after that diatribe. You have clearly indicated that
you are sexist ("old-boys-club") and that you discriminate on the basis of age ("get lost, old
man"). I think that your original post prompted the assumption that you were into this sort of
labeling was your use of the phrase "mean-spirited" in your description of his criticism of the
original poster's grammar and spelling. It is my observation that this phrase is only used by
liberal demagogues.
It is also important to note that the original post was widely crossposted to the following
groups:
sci.stat.edu,
alt.education.research,
misc.education.science,
sci.edu,
sci.misc,
sci.engr,
sci.engr.mech,
bionet.women-in-bio,
misc.education,
and the responses are still being crossposted to these groups. Steve Maas is probably not in
"your" group bionet.women-in-bio. I myself picked up the thread in sci.engr.mech.
