The following are excerpts from a letter that I received from High Performance regarding various topics about Stella II. What is the connection of Stella to _Beyond the Limits_ (besides the Stella diagrams in the book)? >Regarding Beyond the Limits-yes, that book has generated a lot of publicity >for us! Dennis Meadows is distributing a run-time version of the software >with his World3 Model. Interested parties should contact Jennifer Bakke @ >the Institute for Policy and Social Science Research, Hood House, Durham, >NH 03824, Phone 603-862-3057 Fax 1488. What is the situation on academic pricing? How does one go about getting the academic price? >As far as purchasing an actual copy of the software, we do have academic >pricing, at the precollege and university levels. The retail price is $695, >the university price is $295, and the precollege price is $245. We do require >proof of academic affiliation, which can be in the form of a PO or a letter >showing the institution is an accredited academic institution. Lab/LAN packs >are also available. What is ithink? Is it the same as Stella, or is it a hypercard product? >ithink is our business package. It is functionally equivalent to STELLA II, >except the context of the documentation and sample models is business, as >opposed to academic, in nature. ithink is used by Fortune 500 level companies >as well as business schools and consulting groups. >Your mention of a HyperCard front end probably stems from an older product we >used to offer, STELLA Stack. STELLA Stack was a HyperCard front end that >worked with the STELLA software in the mid-to-late 80's. The product was >discontinued due to the steep learning curve of the HyperCard scripting >language. We are planning to release an Authoring Product in `93 which will >serve the function of a facade layer on top of a model, but will not be based >in HyperCard.
