I don't know if you mention this in your Web site, but an alternative, and possibly superior way, to use both Linux and Windows would be to install VMware (http://www.vmware.com) on the Linux box and install windows as a virtual machine. This way one can use Windows apps and not have to reboot. So one could be running SIR97 under Linux in one xterm and running Word on the virtual Win98 box in vmware. The extra bonus is if Windows crashes you simply have to restart the xterm rather than rebooting the whole system. I have just downloaded a 30 evaluation copy of vmware. It installed pretty easily and looks pretty cool. Now I have dig up some Windows98 and MSWord CD-ROM's (which I have never had to have before). : This is mainly optimised for getting the System S/Platon : suite (plus System S friendly programs: Shelx, Dirdif, : Crunch and Sir97) up and running on a PC (streamlined : Redhat installations do not tend to include the Fortran : compilers). Because so much crystallographic code has been written in fortran, it is indespensible (in my opinion anyway) to install some fortran compilation support (either g77, fort77, or one of the commerical fortran compilers available for Linux). By the way, in recent times the term 'streamlined Redhat installation' is becoming an oxymoron. Lately, in my opinion anyway, redhat is getting too bloated and too oriented towards providing a 'desktop environment'. I feel a little disappointed in the direction they seem to be moving.
