	     POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN PROTEIN CRYSTALLOGRAPHY


	Post-doctoral position is available immediately to work toward the
structure determination of protein tyrosine phosphatases and other proteins 
from signal transduction pathways. Various phosphatases and their fragments 
have been cloned and expressed already. The tasks include participation in 
protein purification, crystallization and structure solution. 

	The candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, 
chemistry or protein crystallography. Previous experience in a protein 
crystallography laboratory is an important asset. Experience in protein
purification is essential. The laboratory is very well equipped. There are 
two area detectors and numerous graphics workstations, very good facilities 
for protein purification and crystallization including crystallization robots. 
The group includes several macromolecular crystallographers, technicians, 
a computer specialist and provides a challenging environment which promotes 
collaborative work within BRI. BRI is also part of the Montreal Joint Center 
for Structural Biology, a consortium with industrial partners and universities 
in the Montreal area which facilitates collaborations outside the institute.
