Posted on behalf of Norma Allewell <norma@tc.umn.edu>. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN PROTEIN CRYSTALLOGRAPHY A postdoctoral position is available immediately at the University of Minnesota to participate in crystallographic analyses of structure-function relationships in several multisubunit proteins. Human ornithine transcarbamylase and amphibian ferritin are of particular interest. With human ornithine transcarbamylase, the goal is to understand the structural basis of the clinical effects of mutations that produce hyperammonemia. With ferritin, the goal is to understand the structural basis of biochemical differences in ferritins that are differentially expressed by different ferritin genes. Both proteins have been crystallized and structures have been determined under some of the conditions of interest. The University of Minnesota has a strong program in structural biology with state of the art equipment for X-ray crystallography, NMR and high performance computing. Experience in macromolecular crystallography is required. The search will remain open until the position has been filled.
