Crystallographers in the USA: The USA section of the World Directory of Crystallographers, 10th edition (WDC10) is collecting new entries, updates, and confirmations for the upcoming 10th edition. We have implemented some Web based data collection tools to make the task of updating or adding your entry easier. We recently added some improvements to make the form more "interactive", and invite you to use these to tools to add or update your entry in the WDC. How To Do It: To either confirm or update a WDC9 entry, or enter a new entry, point your browser to the following URL: http://laue.chem.ncsu.edu/web/WDC10/wdc10-form.html For confirms or updates of a WDC9 entry, enter your last and first names in the boxes provided on the Web form. Click the appropriate yes/no button to give permission to the IUCr to publish and distribute your information, then press the "OK" button. A second form containing your previously submitted information will appear. Edit the various boxes as you see fit, and press the "Submit" button. Your entry will be automatically sent via email to the appropriate member of the USA co-editing team for checking. If you have not previously submitted an entry, follow the same procedure as above. Click the box marked "New" for entry type. Except for your first and last name, all fields will have a '?' as the default value. Edit the question marks out, and enter the appropriate information in the boxes on the form. Potential Problems: Use only ASCII characters for entering data. If your name needs non-ASCII character (e.g. u umlaut) use the CIF codes for these characters. Alternatively, describe these characters in plain language between parentheses, i.e. (u umlaut), for the previous example. The search on last and first names is done on a CASE SENSITIVE basis. If you typed 'jane' rather than 'Jane', the search would fail. Go back to the previous page and retry with standard English conventions for using uppercase/lowercase letters. For crystallographers in the USA who have recently arrived from another country, enter your entry as "new". If you are not resident in the USA, don't use this form. It only works for crystallographers residing in the USA. The software for processing WDC entries in this way is rather new. If you think you are seeing buggy behavior, please provide a precise description of the problem and email me.
