These people should contact the International Centre for Diffraction Data at
information@icdd.com
with their full snail-mail address to receive the catalog of products
available.
The ICDD (formerly Joint Committee on Powder Diffraction Standards, JCPDS)
"is a nonprofit scientific organization which collects, edits, publishes,
and distributes powder diffraction data for the identification crystalline
materials." I am quoting the introduction of the catalog.
"The Powder Diffraction File is a collection of single-phase X-ray
powder diffraction patterns in the form of tables of characteristic
interplanar spacings and corresponding relative intensities along with other
pertinent physical and crystallographic properties.... the PDF is available
on a wide variety of media... [and] has various subfiles of data which
include minerals, metals and alloys, and forensic materials." Most
importantly, "information in the PDF is continuously reviewed and upgraded
for accuracy and quality."
The ICDD markets various search-match methods, related educational
material, and specialized products including some which they do not produce.
They do produce the journal Powder Diffraction and also put on clinics in
fundamental and advanced methods in both X-ray diffraction and X-ray
fluorescence.
I am connected to the ICDD only as an interested (and grateful) scientist
and do not stand to profit from spreading this information (i.e. this is not
an advertisement). Any mis-information conveyed above is solely my fault.
Interested parties should contact the Centre for the whole story (including
prices!).
