I suppose you would say our slidemaker is hooked up to the SGI....We apply
a decidely low-tech, but inexpensive, solution to the problem and the
results generate gasps and exclamations from audiences at scientific meetings.

We simply use a 35mm camera with a close-focus lens to shoot a picture
directly from the screen.  Use a tripod and a slow color film, say
Ektachrome 100, and you'll get excellant resolution and faithful color
reproduction.  A further benefit is that the method is system-independant. 
It'll work just as well from a Mac, for example.

Plan to waste some film at first as you experiment with shutter and
aperture settings.  Then, carefully note the settings that work best and
you're in business!
