Doesn't surprise me. I ditched them after they couldn't be bothered to send me a bill for the best part of a year, despite me sending them meter readings every quarter and asking for a bill. They then sent me a bill, which despite being dated a week before the start of a holiday probably arrived a day or two after I left. When I got back they had not sent any reminder, but had instead sent me a threatening letter. Not only that but I had only been in the house for half an hour or so when one of their cretins telephoned me at home. It is rare for me to swear on-line or in "real life" (other than at my computers) but fuck them. I will never use them again, even if they were to be the last gas supplier in the world. It seems to me that the large energy suppliers deliberately date their bills and letters a few days before they are posted. They can then claim their customer has had longer to deal with the bill than they actually have. I'll add that it is the money mob at Scottish/British Gas that I object to. I have always found the staff who come out to deal with boilers and the like to be pleasant and helpful. >Suffice it to say, I've now had enough of these incompetents, and it's >now time to see who else can make an equally bad job of supplying my >utilities.. Provided one agrees with their ethical stance, which is outlined on the web site, there is a lot to be said for http://www.ebico.co.uk/ whose billing is done by Scottish Hydro-Electric (and the other parts of the same group down south). They are better than many at this sort of thing, though not perfect. If one wishes to encourage renewable electricity generation then there are various options available from some of the smaller companies. The large companies offer some "green tariffs" about which the best one can say is that their claims are sometimes difficult to verify. http://www.good-energy.co.uk/ and http://www.ecotricity.co.uk/ are probably the two most well known of the smaller companies. Otherwise there are a variety of companies that offer much of a muchness. -- David Hansen, Edinburgh I will *always* explain revoked encryption keys, unless RIP prevents me http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2000/00023--e.htm#54
