(SALINAS) -- After a double homicide on John Street, a fatal robbery in
Prunedale, and a triple shooting at the Northridge Mall, even
Mexican-Americans are saying they will make the drive to Monterey's Del
Monte Center or the Capitola Mall for their shopping.

"It's like LA," said Melenda Hernandez, who narrowly escaped the
gunfire.

those all happened last weekend.    The John St shooting, two guys were in
shot  while stopped in the middle of the street at an interestion, sitting
in their 63 Chevy (looked pretty sharp on TV) engine still running.   The
mall shooting was a driveby.     I don't know the details of the
Prunetucky thing.
