Hello everyone,

First I just want to say, this posting is intended to (hopefully)
result in a small sideline income for me locally. If you are not
interested in seeking my pro-offered services, please don't waste your
time reading this...thank you and now on to the posting.

I am a computer consultant, consisting of understanding, knowledge and
skills built on 30+ years of close contact with computers. Ranging
from government mainframes to portable devices, and from operational
environments to systems level development projects.

I am offering my services to private parties who require "in house"
computer service, in the San Diego, CA area. My availability will be
limited due to my other interests, and I will negotiate fees (You tell
me how much it's worth for the service you require). Please, No
Businesses!! This is for private (non-business), home computer users.

If you are having problems with your computer, if you have software or
hardware to install, configure or learn to use, if you have a special
setup you require, or if you have a friend who needs help seting up a
new system or device. Contact me by this e-mail address, with ALL the
underscores removed at:
_pierce_consult_ing_@_cox_._net_

Serious inquires, please provide a full description of the service you
are in need of, including: System & Version info and what you want
done. Include your local (619 or 858) phone number and time to call
and I will contact you to setup the service call.

Thank you all for your time.

I love it the typical spamer's matra ", please don't waste your
time reading this" Sure why should we waste our time reading this. You
didn't bother wasting your time by reading the charter of this group. Hey
why don't you not waste anybody's time and not post inapproriate groups

I had a problem that was getting #$%!! frustrating - Pierce came over
and drank about a liter of coffee while he tackled the situation. I
think he knows a lot, is willing to take on nasty network jobs that we
mortals are poorly equipped to handle, and charges a fair rate.

Maybe you don't think he should advertise here, but I'm a beneficiary of
it and am glad he did.

I just have to wonder how competent a supposed computer 'tech' is when
(a) he doesn't know his own eMail address. (!!)
(b) doesn't know how to cancel a usenet posting. (!!?!)

You'd be surprised how many people would actually be able and willing to
help you for free. Or in exchange for a small favor you'd be able to to
them in exchange. Or as I always saw to folks when thay want to repay me -
"You're welcome - pass it on!"

Regards,
Greg

wonder away, while you're doing that, I'll be fixing problems...

>(a) he doesn't know his own eMail address. (!!)

I have 16 of them, I know every one...and their associated passwords.
True, I make mistakes (small ones), but I also am the one who fixes
them. I've never left a problem for others to fix. NEVER

>(b) doesn't know how to cancel a usenet posting. (!!?!)

And you, I'm sure, know everything there is to know about computers,
every program on the market, and all the various hardware devices???
Answer me this (Anyone)...how many octal seconds is allocated to a
COBOL "IF" statement in the EXEC8 operating system? If you don't
know, then we now know how "Competent" you are too.

I've been doing just that for many years...
Installing Windows 3.1 (back in 1994) for "Dinner".
Recovering a erased hard drive in exchange for Lunch.
Setting up a home business in exchange for a few "gift baskets" (the
business sold them).
And, yes, doing many other tasks for free!!!

Relax. I hate SPAM as much as anyone. I found your original post to be
quite tasteful. It wasn't anything like all those obnoxious Cox SPAMs in
HTML. Please just keep it short, sweet, to the point, at least close to
on-topic, PLAIN TEXT, and most important, very very infrequent.
