You have deliberately chosen a car-dependent lifestyle. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ D'oh! I do believe in the idea that people make their own lives, but this can only happen to a certain extent. How do you know this person can well afford to move to a mass-transit friendly area? Perhaps he cannot even if he wanted to, and thus he lives here. Let's say he has three young babies; seems a little impractical to me to be toting the kids on a bicycle as one runs errands across the city. I'd be interested in knowing what products you buy, or do you make all your own household products (i.e. dishwashing liquid, soap, etc.). Corporations do their fair share of polluting the environment, so I hope you're boycotting just about everything sold at your neighborhood Lucky. Like was said earlier, if you can do the bicycle thing, great--I'm really almost jealous of you. I can't bike to sdsu on my lunch break at work because I wouldn't have time. I can drive there, though, and get back without being late and docked pay and all that. Most sdsu offices are open--for your convenience--during regular business hours. And, as someone who is completing graduate school applications, I end up needing to go there a lot. And I have yet to figure out how to get my dry cleaning home from the cleaners on a bike. I'm sure there's a way, I just don't have enough ingenuity--or ambition, or both--for the task. --sarah
