The emphasis of the seminar will be a generic presentation on databases;
only the technology or theory behind the database will be presented.
Included will be fast moving discussions of hierarchical, network and
relational structures. We will also hear about new technology buzzwords
and how these technologies work together, eg: client server, RDBMS, GUI
and SQL.
Our speaker for the Thursday August 20th breakfast, Lee Beel, has been
working with database products since the early 1970's. He was a
programmer using a product called 'TOTAL', a hierarchical database. In
the late 1970's, he designed database systems using IDBMS. More recently,
he has been using a relational database product called UNI-DATA.
The seminars are open to anyone interested. We hope to use these
seminars to learn more about what ICCA members and associates are
doing in their technical business and, of course, to increase our
membership roster.
PLEASE NOTE: We must pay one check so bring exact change which we
will collect before breakfast. Check-in will begin at 7:15 with breakfast at
7:30. The presentation will begin at 8:15 and the seminar will conclude
promptly at 9:00.
