TOPIC: IPS-2 Parallel Program Performance Tools: An Overview
and Tutorial
SPEAKER: Jon Cargille
WHEN: Friday, September 25th, 2:00 - 3:30 pm
WHERE: SDSC Auditorium
ABSTRACT:
IPS-2 is a performance measurement and analysis tool for parallel and
distributed programs. It automatically instruments programs, and
analyzes post-mortem execution traces. It provides the programmer
with a wide variety of ways to view and analyze performance data, and
thus aids in locating performance bottlenecks. This talk is intended
to give potential users of IPS-2 a broad overview of its features and
capabilities. In addition, it will include a tutorial portion
focusing on ways to use the tool effectively. A demo will follow the
talk, showing the tool at work on real programs.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Jon Cargille is a gradudate student at the University of Wisconsin at
Madison. He earned his Master's Degree in Computer Science from the
UW in 1990, and has been a part of the IPS-2 project for a year and a
half. Jon was responsible for porting IPS-2 to the Cray Y-MP.
