AP&M 4301
CSE 282
This Friday we are pleased to have Professor Savitch as our
speaker.
Professor Savitch will speak on:
``Automatic Classification of Words in Unprocessed Text''
ABSTRACT
I will discuss work I am doing with Peter Bensch and David Hutches
on programs for classifying lexical items in unprocessed (before
the programs see it) English text. You can think of the categories
as being grammatical categories like nouns, verbs, etc., but the
classifications are actually much finer than that. I will contrast
two different approaches, with differing computational and linguistics
strengths.
