Here is a local extract of the latest readership data on usenet.
It shows that readership of seattle.* is DOWN! by over 50%
or 12000 readers. (Thats in one month!) Another month
like that and we won't exist ... :-)

  The numbers for August were:

+-- Estimated total number of people who read the group, worldwide.
        | +-- Actual number of readers in sampled population
        | | +-- Propagation: how many sites receive this group at all
        | | | +-- Recent traffic (messages per month)
        | | | | +-- Recent traffic (kilobytes per month)
        | | | | | +-- Crossposting percentage
        | | | | | | +-- Cost ratio: $US/month/rdr
        | | | | | | | +-- Share: % of newsrders
        | | | | | | | | who read this group.

While the NEW numbers for September are:

 867 11000 359 12% 101 100.9 34% 0.00 0.8% pnw.forsale
 876 11000 354 14% 123 240.8 10% 0.01 0.8% pnw.general
 900 10000 344 11% 215 324.6 30% 0.01 0.7% seattle.general
(seattle test did not make the top 1000 groups.)

The good news is that the traffic is down and the crossposting
in seattle.general is way down as well.

In any event the seattle distribution is dramaticly smaller
than just a month ago (I'm making no jugments on if this is a
  good thing or not.)

It could be that the lower circulation is partly because stephsf
no longer forwards seattle.general articles to UUNET although I
would not think that this would cause such a dramatic change.
