The new bus schedules are out and they
indicate on some routes are now carrying
bikes all day.

The New West/Burnaby schedule for 6 September
shows
135 Stanley Park/SFU (Express)
5:06 to 17:44 as all BL, Bikes and wheelchair Lift,
from SFU
5:58 to 18:47 from Stanley Park as BL, every 10 minutes
during the day.
But there is nothing in the evening or weekends.

148 SFU/Lougheed Mall/Scott Road
from Lougheed Mall only (not Scott Road)
from 7:10 to 18:10 as BL every 15 minutes.
No BL designated busses seem to go or come from
the Scott Road Station.

Other routes don't show any B.

And the present newspaper advert on new route news doesn't
show any B codes for bikes at all on those routes, though they
do show the L codes.

I see that Bus #100 Airport-22nd Street station is also
designated BL and it's going on from 5:30-23:30, almost
a full day. Finally we can get a head start about pedalling
home from a trip with our packed bike. Foldable Bike Friday's
anyone?

Now if SFU would buy the house for sale at the
bottom of the hill at Hastings and Duthie as a bike depot
for a bike van taking up all the potential bikes that might
be left behind the two bikes per bus limit, all would be well.

Bike groups should get a bunch of 20 cyclists and TV cameras
to a stop and show the silliness of only two racks per bike for
such a steep hill. Even if only 10 minutes between busses many
bikes could be left behind.

With the closure of the SFU gas-station, the increasing of parking
fees and fines, we may get a bike-friendly campus.

When will we see Jack Blaney pedalling around from Harbour
Centre campus to Burnaby Mountain?
