Subject: OS2News: New OS/2 Game - Psyberball
Hello, I am Max Marsiglietti, speaking officially for the Psyberball Team.
The ones interested in this Pinball game sure will remember that this
project started under Mages/2 company name; now that Driss Dzouak, sole own=
er
of this brand, left we, Psyberball Team, want you all to know that we haven=
't
stopped Psyberball development.
* You bet it! *
We decided to continue to code and this hasn't been difficult, since
Driss handled PR with testers, mags and so on, but didn't touch the code.
OTOH, he didn't gave us testers and artists' list, because he did want
money (after all he did spend much time) but we aren't sure if we will
market this as shareware or if we want it to reach stores.
So, we decided not to give anyone money now (don't know how much we will
make out of this).
Right now we are finishing a first demo of the game.
The game is a pinball, using DIVE and DART for graphics and sound.
It runs fast, but the less powerful box in which we did run it was a 486dx3=
3,
so take it with a grain of salt.
This very first demo will be out to be sure that it will run on everyone's
box, and run fast. You can't play, only watch the ball bouncing on a
table. We coded this in C++, so it won't take much to expand it (every
part of the pinball is an object: the ball, the mushrooms, etc;
making a pinball is a matter of putting in a DLL all the pieces, since the
code is already there).
Why are we writing this?
Because now we don't have things like TESTERS and ARTISTS.
We need you to finish a good Pinball game.
Send a letter to maxmars@pianeta.it, with the subject 'join psyberball'
and in the body specify if you want to join as an artist or as a tester,
specifying also if you were one also under Driss' firm.
No money is required for the testers. We won't charge you anything,
now. If we are going to make you pay for a pre-release, we'll
let you know, and we won't charge you unless you agree.
All the profits coming form this game will be shared among the participants
(coders and artists) - We need to know how many are we so when the project
will be in an advanced state of progress we (all together) will decide
how to market it, how much to ask for it, and so on.
If we decide to market it thru shops, I am part of a firm which produces
OS/2 software and they will market it, else we will go with the shareware
formula.
