Using PEXlib directly forces the application to deal with implementation specific issues of the server-side PEX implementation. It also exposes the application to a non-backwards-compatible PEX protocol revision (analogous to converting your X10 Xlib-based application to X11). An API (i.e., not PEXlib) such as phigs hides these protocol issues from the application. > and what serious > options there are for programming 3D graphics under X? I'll let someone who is more actively involved in the PEX effort field this question. -- -paul pmartz@dsd.es.com Evans & Sutherland
