Western IL to start an electronic media dept. as prt ofour library. The
dept partment would provide many services like:
1.provide internet resources to students without computer skill or acces
2.provide program and electronic journal sources.
3.provide out of state and foreign students to thier home news and bbs.
THis is my first posting and I haven't expressed my self as well as I
would like.
I find many librarians saying that computers will eliminate books and
libraries . I don't believe this. I invision a department of the library
that treats electronic resources and information the same way that books
or periodical or reference or audiovisual sources are treated. Possibly
so far as program check outs. It would start with acces to internet with
a catolog of its resources databases and a librarian who can access this
info. I hope to pursue an mls and continue by working in a library and I
see an opportunity to greatly expan the influence use and relevance of
libraries by pursuing this line of reasoning. What I would like would be
if people that know of such programs or participate insuch programs if
they could send me info. I would also like to see a discussion of this
topic on the net.
My internet address is murpr@uxa.ecn.bgu.edu I appreciate any help and
your patience and understanding with my first posting attempt.
