I don' thave the exact wording of the loyalty oath that the University
of California requires of all employees, but the Handbook for Faculty
Members says
The State of California, by constitutional and legislative provision,
requires that all citizens receiving salaries from the State, before
entering upon the duties of their employment, subscribe to an oath to
support, defend, and bear true faith and allegiance to the
Constitutions of the United States and of California.
I know that TAs and RAs are required to sign this oath also, even
though the University insists that they are not employees and so can't
be represented by their union as a collective bargaining unit.
I don't know whether non-citizens are required to sign---I'll have to
ask some of the foreign grad students if they were asked to sign.
