>I saw an article in our local paper the other day describing a company that >introduces senior citizens to the net (i.e. e-mail, listservs etc.) and >provides access to them from their home. I think you may have a marketing problem, at least for the current generation of senior citizens, not that I that I am making a sweeping generalization or anything :-) I've been trying to get my grandma on the net for years. She just doesn't want anything to do with computers. She gives me that "I'm to old to learn computers" crap. I offer her a free computer, account, software, training and everything. She is smart and I know she would like the mental stimulation. Grandpa is a bit of a bore. I have a few ideas, questions, and concerns: 1. Is there a BBS dedicated to say the 50+ group? 2. How can the most foreign ideas of the Internet and computers be sold to this market of users? I think a library, TV, or grocery store metaphor would be familiar and easy to understand. Newsgroups, threads, etc. would be overload, at least at first. 3. What easy to use software is available? 4. I wouldn't want using the Internet to be substitute for human touching and contact.
