Uhh...it's called Java. It's not just applets, as the language
progresses entire applications in Java will be possible.

That aside, I think it's pretty clear from this thread that people tend
to prefer a little variety.

As I'm sure everyone here has seen, there's a million things wrong with
the Mac, just as there are a million things wrong with the PC. There's
also a million great things about each. It's really a matter of, say it
with me...

PERSONAL PREFERENCE. Grow up.

With that said, let me share a bizzare anecdote that will no doubt cause
a new round of flames:

Yesterday I receive in email a Word for Windows file. I use a Mac, but
my partner's machine is running NT 4 server, so he's got Mac file
services, and I can just drop files on his hard drive (I don't have a
copy of Word for the Mac). This usually works with out a hitch, but
this time (drumroll)...
NT 4.0 server crashed. Completely. Blanked out to a blue screen, then
tried to reboot itself before locking up altogether. Because it was in
the middle of a file transfer, it brought down my Mac as well. Now
that's a hard crash! And yes, I guess you could theorise that it might
have been the Mac's fault, but that's not the point. NT crashed!

So I guess NT isn't quite as rock-solid stable as the hype would
maintain.

This is another reason why for our mission-critical web server we dumped
NT and use Linux. That's why I find this whole Mac-Windows thing so
pointless. In any case where the OS truly makes a _critical
difference_, neither is adequate.
