I do not know if anyone else has been experiencing any difficulties
but I am having trouble handling documents in Word 6 with many equations.
I own a Centris 610 with 8MB Ram and RamDoubler installed.
Documents that I wrote in Word 5.1 are now very difficult to edit in
Word 6. For instance, one document was 34 pages long with a medium
number of equations. It was 200K in Word 5.1 and 750K in Word 6
even with full save. This made saving and handling difficult. For
instance, savings takes 5 minutes rather than 5 seconds (and that
is when no chnages have been made!).

I was wondering if anyone had any idea why this was happening. I
have tried converting the document, not converting the document, expanding
and contracting the memory size for Word 6, turning Ram Doubler off,
having no other applications, having no extensions -- basically all
the usual things. I have also tried copying the whole document to
a new Word 6 file. All to no avail.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this? The manual does not
list it as a potential problem. I have tried fast saves but Word 6 only
seems to allow this periodically (even with the option set).

I have also tried all of the above on a Power Book 520C. So this is
endemic - for me at least. These copmuters are not slouches. I new
Word 6 would be slower but this is ridiculous. I am thinking of abandoning
it, any equally ridiculous proposition.

If anyone has any advice I would be very grateful. Please e-maiol
to godel@leland.stanford.edu OR J.Gans@unsw.edu.au.

Thank you very much in advance.

- Joshua
