Cedar Walton is a legendary pianist who has played with countless jazz
greats, from Sonny Rollins to Kenny Dorham to Art Blakey & the Jazz
Messengers. Today he is perhaps best known for his current work with
his own trio and Eastern Rebellion, a group he formed in 1975 which
plays "some of the tightest ensemble bebop in jazz". Since 1981 Cedar
has primarily worked with David Williams and Billy Higgins in his own
Cedar Walton Trio. Cedar continues to record prolifically and
successfully, as witnessed by the Grammy awards earned by two of his
recent albums. His current album, "Composer",has won widespread
praise from the jazz community. Said one source, "Just listen to a
master at work."

Don't miss this wonderful event, as the Stanford Jazz Orchestra plays
works by Wayne Shorter, Melton Mustafa, and others. Renowned pianist
Cedar Walton will join the band on arrangements of two of his own
famous compositions, "Mosaic" and "Groove Passage". To close out the
show, Cedar will lead a small combo of Stanford's hottest and most
experienced jazz players in performing selections from his recent,
highly praised album, "Composer". Please join us for a memorable
evening of jazz!
