As part of a project to produce an educational film for children, the American Guild of Organists, the Association of Pipe Organ Builders in America, the Organ Historical Society, and the American Theatre Organ Society are presenting a free noon organ concert at Stanford Memorial Church on Monday, October 17th, at 12:15 pm. Both of the famous pipe organs at Memorial Church will be featured. Gwen Adams, organist and music director of All Saint's Church in Palo Alto, will perform pieces by Samuel Barber and Herbert Howells on the Murray Harris organ. Robert Bates, Memorial Church organist, will play Baroque works by J.S. Bach and French composers on the C.B. Fisk organ. Finally, Jack Wimberly, an aspiring 14-year-old performer, will play selections on both instruments. The concert will last about 40 to 45 minutes, though audience members are encouraged to allow additional time for cameras to film their reactions to the music and performers. The resulting footage will be used to solicit contributions to produce an hour long program to be broadcast on educational television. I have no affiliation with the AGO, APOBA, OHS, or ATOS, except as an afficionado of organ music. Romain Kang Pyramid Technology Corp. romain@pyramid.com San Jose, California, USA
