  Over the last several months there has been a strong interest in this
  type of article.  Clearly not enough to sustain its own newsgroup but
  the volume and longevity of this thread warrants at the least its own 
  mailing list.  

  The obvious questions are
    
    (1) what is the charter of this new mailing list
    (2) who is moderating this new list
    (3) what membership will the list have initially
    (4) comments and suggestion period


                          _C_H_A_R_T_E_R

    The mailing list will be called info-inconvenience-list.

    It will be moderated but not digested.  Articles will be accepted
  based solely on their inconvenience. Timely or informative postings
  will be rejected by the moderator.  Endless follow ups are strongly
  encouraged; preference is given to followups containing words which
  sound similar to ones in previously cited articles *without* actual
  rhyming taking place. The moderator will have complete authority to
  reject convenient articles at his/her discretion.

    Articles consisting of entire termcap entries and output from any
  of the currently available banner programs is acceptable. 

    Policy on "stale" topics: stale topics are expressly encouraged.

    Policy on reposting: reposting is expressly encouraged.

    All in all, the purposes of this mailing list are wasting as much 
  bandwidth as possible among the people which appeciate it the most,
  reducing volume on talk.bizarre, filling up various spool queues we
  can find around the country and, in general, pissing off the system 
  administrators that we know and love.


                          _M_O_D_E_R_A_T_O_R

    I will be the initial moderator for the info-inconvenince-list. I
  will run the list from the Commodore VIC/20 I have at home.  To get
  submissions onto the list address them to 

      info-inconvenience-list@uunet!psuvm!danish.krill.uucp.com

  add/drop requests should be sent to

      info-inconvenience-list-request@uunet!psuvm!danish.krill.uucp.com

    Please note that these addresses are very long and thus are quite
  inconvenient to type.


                        _I_N_I_T_I_A_L _M_E_M_B_E_R_S_H_I_P

    Everyone who has posted an article to talk.bizarre or alt.slack in
  the last sixty days will automatically be put on the list. The first
  several hundred articles distributed by the list will be recaps from
  talk.bizarre's thread of inconvenient articles.  These include those
  "Too comfortable for smurfs" articles and perhaps even some cullings
  from rec.humors "Re: weird" thread.  

    Add/drop requests will be handled after the moderator finishes the
  processing of the initial inconvenience articles and comes back from
  vacation in July.  Preference will be given to the most inconvenient
  add/drop requests, especially those with incorrect or missing return
  e-mail addresses.  All requests from an address ending in !root will
  be dropped by the software ostensibly to prevent infinite replies to
  bounced mail.   Although that is just the kind of inconvenient thing
  the list needs to get started.


                      _C_O_M_M_E_N_T_S/_S_U_G_G_E_S_T_I_O_N_S

    Please forward all comments to the moderator before the end of the
  discussion period on 02/25/90.  All e-mail sent after that date will
  inconveniently be forwarded to /dev/null due to a sudden change with
  the VIC/20 sendmail system.  

    With your help, we can make this mailing list work.
