The market is enormous in New South Wales and rather than driving the
price up (as you indicate) the price of whatever is on sale has a
tendency to decrease (due to the enormous size of the market and the
number of outlets).

The greymarket porn industry in New South Wales allegedly doesn't
have overheads such as

 a) copyright liabiliites or
 b) taxation.

There are those who question the copyright issue but nobody to date
has to my knowledge ever dealt with the taxation issue.

I'd prefer to see the decriminilisation of the sale of unrated
material (subject perhaps to some form of complaints procedure) but
where the material is deemed "adult" and sold only in adult premises
the proof of being offended should be very rigid.

If one enters an adult premises (where it is known that adult
material is sold) one takes responsibility for the possibly that
material may offend. It is indeed a requirement under Restricted
Premises legislation that a noticee "may cause offense" be prominently
displayed and indeed in New South Wales every store that I'm familiar
with complies with this section of wherever the legislation arises
from.

And in passing I might note that the term "adult book store" has in
at least one instance been changed indicating that what is sold in
that store may not be reading material or magazines.

And it's been repainted in flourescent yellow.
