Interest on $4,000,000,000,000 comes to about $250,000,000,000 per
year.  One of the top three largest single items in the federal
budget.  That's $1000 per man, woman, and child in the country.
(Using round numbers and about 6% current interest rates)

No, you may never have to pay off that debt.  It may well be your
children or grandchildren that will have to pay it off.  Until it is,
you and your children and your grandchildren will pay $1000+ per year
per person in interest payments.

Which wouldn't bother me at all, except that I and everyone else in
the country will have to do the same.  Family of four?  $4000.
Add your parents and wife's parents?  $8000.  Another child?  $9000.
