Actually, swine, that makes sense IF you are still at seed stage, with heavy snow cover. The wheat will sprout first in trails because excess snow is thrown away from moving snowmobile belts. The residual snow melts faster, since there's less of it. Since soil doesn't thaw until the snow cover has melted, bare earth sprouts before snow-covered earth. HOWEVER, it's a completely different story if you already have plants breaking through the surface. Imagine riding your snowmobile across sprouting fields in April, and (assuming it doesn't sink in the mud) see how much the wheat farmers love you. This is the problem with the rural public. So few actually farm anymore that hardly anyone understands the process. /Roy
