Early this year, investigative reporters
with the Los Angeles Times uncovered two
cases of what looks suspiciously like back
scratching between Pombo and the extractive
industries. In 1999, Pombo and Rep John
Doolittle (R-Roseville) linked up to put
the kibosh on a Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation investigation of Charles Hurwitz,
of Maxxam lumber clear-cutting infamy, over
his involvement in a collapsed Texas savings
and loan company. According to the Times the
legislators, both known as "proteges of
[Tom] Delay" subpoenaed documents from the
confidential FDIC investigation of Hurwitz
and promptly published them in the
Congressional Record, styming the
government's case. Hurwitz subsequently
gave Pombo $1,000 and Doolittle $5,000.

grade-B film company in LA once hired an eccentric
screenwriter who smoked a lot of Salvia Divinorum,
(since retired to motel management somewhere in the
Sierras), and conveyed to her a second-hand story
about an alien contactee friend of his who believed
a species of high-tech, reptilian humanoids were
living in a vast, underground network of subterranean
tunnels; furthermore, she or rather he, believed all
inexplicable UFO sightings were caused by these

DeSilva was steeped in East Bay politics long before
he befriended Perata in the late '80s. "Big Ed," as
he was called back then stepped easily into the shoes
of his late father Oliver de Silva - who spelled his
name differently - a longtime road builder and quarry
operator who also had considerable influence
especially in Hayward. By the early 1980s Big Ed had
taken over as president of Oliver de Silva Inc.
One of his political allies was then-County Supervisor
Don Excell, whose district included Apperson Ridge.

Over the years DeSilva learned from William Apperson's
failures, and devised a plan by which both men could
make millions from the property. According to Apperson,
when the developer approached him with the idea in the
early '80s DeSilva assured him he wouldn't have to do
anything. Apperson was weary of dealing with
politicians and environmentalists, so DeSilva
promised to handle all the details.

It was a good deal for Apperson. Oliver de Silva Inc.
would get eighty years' worth of mining rights to a
680-acre section of the ridge. In exchange so long
as DeSilva could secure a county permit, Apperson was
guaranteed an annual allowance of $100,000 regardless
of when the quarry opened, property records show.
They renegotiated in 1989 boosting Apperson's annual
take to at least $150,000. If and when the mine opens
Apperson will pocket $150,000 or 6 percent of the
mine's annual gross whichever is greater, each year.

       "In the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area,"
       the tale goes, "two people are following
       a car along a road that goes by Calavaras
       Reservoir, just about 15 miles NE of

Answer:
Hmmm... The Calaveras fault system stretches 131 km, from
south of Hollister, northward, into the Danville-Walnut
Creek area (Taylor, 1992). Based on present creep rates,
the fault can be divided into two overall segments; that
south of the Calaveras Reservoir, and the San Ramon
segment (Kelson, et al, 1992), between Sunol and Danville.

   I sat in on a USGS & DoE meeting in Denver, a few years
ago.  [Do NOT repeat this to anyone.]  It was noted in the
Lecture and in the Presentation drawings and also in the
Q&A section of the meeting, that the "Area of Research"
focused on the FAULT LINES. That the "entrances" and
"Cavern PATHWAYS" were to be explored, where accessible.

   That the DEEPER you go the LARGER the Caverns became.
That researchers were directed to FOLLOW the Underground
rivers DOWN, into the Earth.   Exploration teams were to
include a two to six man  Video documentary TEAM (using
equipment "Donated" by SONY).

The US Government has been interested in locations which
provide Deep Access to the Inner Earth.   A lot of the
"Areas of Research" focused on FAULT LINES.

NOTE:  In the Bay area there are three major faults, from
West to East the San Andreas, the Hayward, and the
