	The SPLC is a make work program for "civil rights lawyer"
Morris Dees and his fanatical followers. That's the bottom line.
Apparently, such is their confidence in the righteousness of what they
say their cause is that they kept taking donations in the late '90s
far past what they needed to operate, hoping to be able to fund the
center with investment dividends and interest. THAT is how much
confidence they had that even the "radical liberals and leftists" who
donated to them would have approved of what they were doing. 
	Perhaps when Dees quits making up lists of "enemies of the
state" to hand over to the FBI (did he at least get a decoder ring for
his work?), he can be taken seriously as what he claims to be - a
civil rights advocate.
