Daniel J. Lavigne (taxfree@planeteer.com) wrote: <snip> : Many global warming critics say they think : sulfur haze is the solution to global warming, : but fail to take into account the fact that the : cooling is generally temporary and regional. The cooling effect of sulphur haze is no more regional than the warming effects of other gases. How could it be regional? The source of the sulphur is the same as that of CO2 and other gases. : Greenhouse gases warm the planet 24 hours a day, : and sulfer haze cools just during the daytime. Not true. "greenhouse" gases hold the heat in at night, sulphur haze prevents as much heat retention during the day. Neither is a day-shift only or night-shift only effect. : But I suppose cooking the facts does suit big : business, who does not feel compelled to regulate : the effects of their activities so generations who : come after us will not have to deal with irreparable : damage to the atmosphere. Hey, those "big business" types live on this earth, too; their children will survive them. Let' hope our economy survives the antics of the "anti-?" crowd who are attempting to usurp the ecological concerns that we all have. : Ignorance will not make the problems go away, and denial will not : excuse people from the responsibility of the immense damage they are : doing. Finger-pointing in order to place blame (also called cynical politics), will not lead society to any better alternatives. : "Think global act local" and all those other cute slogans prodding us : away from immediate self-interest and pointing to our long term : survival as sentients Ah, yes, the enviro-loons think they are going to save the world. Sort of a "superman" complex; or is it just a way to meet girls? : for that I thank all individuals and groups who have maintained their : drive and focus in spite of a spreading insanity of greed that has the : majority choosing shiny paint before life's basic needs. Oh, yes, tell us what we should really be doing, O "driven and focussed" individuals. But, when you talk of insanity, check out your own back yard, before you start telling me how to treat mine... -- (-: ...e-mail will be posted as I see fit... :-) (-: Off the monitor, through the modem... nothing but net. :-)
