The American people have been brainwashed by irrational environmental groups who do not know what they are talking about when it comes to strategic energy issues. 1) France relies totally on nuclear power for electricity, and France has the cleanest air and lowest electricity rates in Europe! What's wrong with that? The newest nuclear power plant designs are extremely safe, and cannot burn up like Chernobyl because they do not use graphite as a mediating device as the ancient and dumb Chernobyl design. Nuclear power has been the absolute safest energy source America has used in the last 50 years! Compared to the other sources of energy, nuclear energy is bargain basement cheap! 2) We already have all the fuel we need to run America on nuclear power in the form of nuclear weapons materials, which can be converted into nuclear fuel rods. We do not have to import anything to produce nuclear energy. All the money, jobs, and tax revenues stay right here in America, which will create a boon to our economy. We do not need to fight any foreign wars to protect our supply of nuclear fuel, because we already own it, and it is already paid for. In that sense, nuclear power is FREE! 3) Old nuclear fuel rods can be processed into usable nuclear fuel rods again and again, because only a small portion of the fuel rod is used up during each fuel cycle. We have enough nuclear fuel on hand to last for centuries. There is no need to store large amounts of old rods, because they can be used again and again. There is no nuclear fuel storage problem. 4) Coal is cheap up front, but causes massive green house gas emissions, and releases tons and tons or radioactive material and deadly mercury into our skies due to the natural uranium and mercury content of coal. The total long term costs of coal, including structural damage to buildings from air pollution, and damage to people's health, makes coal far more expensive than nuclear energy. The mercury now found in ocean fish comes from burning massive amounts coal for electricity production, the mercury content of which ends up in our oceans and the fish we eat. 5) If you want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, you have three choices: nuclear, nuclear, or nuclear. There is no other way. We can heat our homes with it, run our cars with it, and it can 100% replace fossil fuels as an energy source. The bio-fuel hoax is ridiculous because there is not enough land on earth to produce enough fuel and at the same time feed the world's population. Even the small amount of bio-fuel we are currently producing has doubled the cost of corn, chicken, milk, and other important food products. We have double digit inflation for the cost of food thanks to the bio-fuel hoax! The bio-fuels just cause more pollution, more deforestation, more global warming, and more starvation. Bio-fuels are a MAJOR DISASTER! We have to grow up and realize that we cannot make an omelet without cracking some eggs, and making hard choices. Our backs are up against a wall, and we have no other legitimate choice but nuclear energy. The American people need to educate themselves on this important issue because our common fears and conceptions about nuclear power are all wrong. Many have been duped by lunatic environmental fringe groups rather than educated by people who actually now what they are talking about. If you don't want to cut down all our forest to grow bio- fuels, eat polluted food and breathe polluted air, and starve the worlds peoples, or go to war to protect oil supplies, then we have to start building safe, reliable nuclear power plants NOW! Nuclear power should be investigated further as a viable energy source.
