In living memory, not popular fiction, there is an example of ten times
that number conspriring to perform just this sort of illegal act 70,000
times in the space of two years. Many more worked cheek by jowl with
them turning a blind eye to what was happening. A statement like this
one of Mr Merel's just cries out for a counter example in the form of
a reminder of the Aktion T-4 program.

The point is without the RTI Act it remains illegal and those doing it
risk prosecution and will continue to do so if the act of one person
killing another remains illegal under any circumstances.

                                       What you're proposing would ensure

We have already established that a much larger number people conspiring
to circumvent the law is not solely in the realm of popular fiction.
Even laws which prohibit killing.

Having no regulation of VE opens

I would like Mr Merel to explain how not opening the door to the
killing of one person by another would *open* "the door to all kinds
of compassionate-but-mistaken killing".
