More of your usual flagrant dishonesty. Thats just a shorthand way of referring to pain seen with terminal illnesses. What works with pain after surgery aint necessarily gunna work with pain with terminal illnesses Dave. And you know it. > Some people who suffer from terminal diseases suffer pain. You dont say ? Some people who do suffer high levels of pain with terminal illness choose to pull the plug on their lives rather than continue their lives with pain relief, if thats possible. You dont get to ram your ideas on how their lives should be done down their throats. It really is that basic. > The pain can be relieved, Sometimes it can, sometimes it cant. Its completely dishonest to be claiming that it always can with terminal illnesses, particular with it being feasible to provide a decent lifestyle at the same time. It aint just pain either, some just decide that the totality of the symptoms at the end of their terminal illness aint something they care for and they choose to pull the plug on their lives. Thats THEIR choice Dave, none of your damned business. > but unfortunately the disease cannot be cured and they will die from it. And they should be able to choose to terminate their lives sooner than it would end if they want that. And they can as long as they can do that without assistance. You fundys shouldnt be allowed to ram your opinions down others throats, particularly when the vast bulk of Australians are telling you lot to bugger off. > Proper palliative care means they do not have to suffer pain during terminal illness. Crap, thats the dishonest line you lot run. The reality is that the totality of the symptoms is about a hell of a lot more than just pain, and even when you can relieve the pain, and you cant always, that may well not be with anything like a decent situation for that patient. They may well choose to avoid that particular combination of symptoms and pull the plug earlier. I personally dont care for hospitals at all really and cant see why I should be forced to spend say a month in one at the end of my life. And I wont be doing that either. One real problem with the current law on assisted suicide and euthanasia is that people like me will make damned sure that they kill themselves while they still have the opportunity to do so unaided, like the ex governor of the reserve bank and his wife did. That means that they get to live for a SHORTER time than they might otherwise choose to do if they could be confident of getting assistance to kill themselves if they leave it till later and need assistance. Usual problem with you damned fundys, you wouldnt have a fucking clue. > >Just say even though your pathedine give you relieve , this is > >only a short term solution and does not address how we could > >relieve the pain until the natural death from terminal illness . > I recieved pethadine because my pain was not expected to > continue for very long. It worked well, but pethadine only > has a short half life and is not the best option for long term use. So it was completely dishonest waving it around as if it proved a damned thing about pain in terminal illness Dave. > Had my pain been expected to need continual relief I would have recieved morphine, Which doesnt necessarily provide a very good result in terminal illness Dave. > which has no clinically relevant limit to its analgesic effects, Yes, but its got some very important problems at the highest levels for the lifestyle of the patient Dave. People should be able to decide that they dont care for those much, and to pull the plug on their lives. > or even one of the newer synthetic drugs which are up to 5000 times more effective. More flagrant dishonesty. Its nothing like you imply there. > BTW I am nearly completely healed already, and I am back at work. Irrelevant to the situation with terminal illness.
