L.A. Daily News Monday, June 30

It took the [California] state's pay commission less than
20 minutes Monday to decide that California can't afford
to give its elected officials a raise this year. . .

. . . lawmakers haven't had a raise since 1998.

California's rank-and-file legislators are already the
highest paid in the nation. They receive $99,000 a year
in salary. Legislative leaders make up to $113,850 annually.
Lawmakers also receive $125 a day in expense money when
they're in session.

Let's see I believe there are 79 assembly men and 40 state
senators in California. At least $99K a year, plus that $125
each day at work stipend. I think we can safely round that up to
$100K per legislature. So that's, what about $11,900,000 a year
for...for, erm, tax and spending the state in to debt?

How many of you get $125 bucks a day that you show up at work
on top of your salary?
