The Wall Street Journal reports that Prodigy is going to come out with a Digicom V.32bis modem for about $200 ($199 or some such). It's supposed to have fax capability and error compression, which I interpret to mean that it has V.42bis, too. It'd be surprising if it didn't. There aren't enough details in the message to tell exactly what it has. I haven't heard a lot about Digicom, so they might be worth buying at that price, or they might not. But even if they're not very good, it's likely that the other modem manufacturers will have to drop prices to keep up. So I'd hold off buying a new modem for another 4-6 weeks to see what happens. -- jamesd@techbook.COM Public Access UNIX at (503) 220-0636 (1200/2400, N81) By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may eventually get to be a boss and work tweleve hours a day. - Robert Frost
