Welcome to the Machine August Schedule ----------------- Wednesday, August 5th, 6:15PM "email & news" Saturday, August 8th, 10:00AM "email & news" Thursday, August 20th, 6:15PM "email & news" Sunday, August 23rd, 12:00PM "email & news" "Welcome to the Machine" sessions are intended to let users have hands-on experience with a terminal hooked to a UNIX machine, letting them learn how to use e-mail and news. Coverage is focused on elm for mail and nn for news, but mailx, mush, and rn are also given some coverage. Questions covered include: "How do I send e-mail?"; "How do I find addresses?"; "How do I send mail to CompuServe, MCI Mail, America Online, and/or FidoNet?"; and whatever else people come up with. Different people learn different ways. For every person who prefers to have a manual to sit with and work through, there's at least another person who would rather have a human to talk to. We've found that it's often productive to have someone be able to show exactly the steps that they've taken rather than try to describe them over the phone. Power users will probably be bored, but novice users will find the answers to many of their questions. We welcome novices who are using any UNIX machine, regardless of whether or not they use techbook. Please bring paper, pencil and questions! -- Voice: +1 503 646-8257 FAX: +1 503 248-6320 info@techbook.com - or - Public Access UNIX site: +1 503 644-8135 ...!uunet!techbook!info
