Having just gotten one of the DOS machines that can support a hard drive up and going, I should finally be able to get a letter together and mail it out to let people know about the new phone number for this system. In the meantime, if you know somebody who's using PDaXs or techbook and you think there's a chance that they don't know the new data number (220-0636) or voice number (223-4245) PLEASE tell them. (I had all the data backed up on another machine. No worries, right? Well, the backup machine blew a power supply and finding a replacement has not been easy (as in no luck so far). Buy Compaq, spend a zillion on replacement parts ... So, then the power supply blows on the other machine. OK, we'll just throw a new power supply in. But as long as we're doing that, let's upgrade the disk system ... You can probably write the rest of this as well as I can. Somebody sometime must have formulated the fundamental law of computers: change one (1) variable at a time. Anybody know whose law this is? Then there's the fun with the XT that was stored in the garage. Bring it in, clean it up a little, fire it up. Works great. OK, clean it up some more, throw some hardware in it, fire it up. Doesn't work. Sigh. Pull out hardware, fire it up. Doesn't work. Sigh. Haul out claw hammer and wave threateningly at system. Doesn't work. Hit self on head with claw hammer several times. System still doesn't work, but somehow it doesn't matter so much now ...)
